I am a full time glass and glass jewellery artist. My work is an expression of my love of nature, colour and harmony. From the philosophy that there is a delicate balance between all things in life and nature, each work is a representation of balance; light and dark, transparent and opaque, strong and delicate, masculine and feminine.
My glasswork is all created in my studio in semi-rural Auckland, where I am surrounded by the juxtapositions of tranquillity and industry. I find this balance essential to my vision and artistry.
My first introduction to glass was in 2008. Having worked as a Visual Merchandiser for many years, I was seeking a boost to my creativity with a new outlet to inspire me. The possibilities within the realm of glass had a profound impact on me. In glass I found an art form that is raw and honest – it requires mastery, a willingness to always experiment with possibilities, an understanding of alchemy and tremendous rewards.
My work is mainly torch worked and fused glass. I seek ways of combining the two techniques into each work of art, which are influenced by my two homelands New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.
In each creation, it is my desire to reflect the things that breathe life into the soul: the beauty of nature, the spirit of colour and the joy of a smile.
I am available for commissions and welcome enquiries.
